About CAPS Centers

CAPS Centers was founded by a family who has walked this path - our founders are parents of a child who received ABA therapy, and that experience shapes everything we do. We provide ABA therapy, PEERS social skills training, and family life coaching to children on the autism spectrum and the families who love them, delivered where families actually live: in the home, with center-based services growing as we do.

About This Role

As a Behavior Technician at CAPS Centers, you’ll work one-on-one with children implementing individualized treatment plans designed by our BCBAs - building language, play, social, and adaptive skills while reducing challenging behaviors. You’ll collect data every session, collaborate closely with your supervising BCBA, and be a steady, encouraging presence for the kids and families you work with. No prior ABA experience is required as we provide comprehensive training.

What You’ll Do

  • Implement individualized ABA treatment plans developed by a BCBA, one-on-one with your assigned client(s)
  • Teach language, play, social, academic, and self-help/adaptive skills using evidence-based ABA strategies
  • Collect and record accurate session data to track progress toward treatment goals
  • Travel to and deliver sessions in clients’ homes and communities across the East Bay area
  • Communicate professionally with parents/caregivers and provide updates to your supervising BCBA
  • Attend regular team meetings and supervision sessions to build your clinical skills
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging therapy environment for each session
  • Complete session notes and required documentation promptly and accurately

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED required; coursework or a degree in psychology, education, child development, or a related field is a plus, but not required
  • A caring, patient, energetic personality and a genuine desire to help kids grow
  • Prior experience with children (childcare, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling) is helpful but not necessary
  • Reliable transportation, valid CA driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance (this is a home-based, travel-between-sessions role)
  • Ability to pass a DOJ/FBI background check (including fingerprinting), a TB test, and provide immunization records
  • Physical ability to sit on the floor, kneel, bend, and actively engage with kids for extended periods; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable using a smartphone/tablet for scheduling and data collection

Why CAPS Centers

  • A clear growth path — many of our best BCBAs started as Behavior Technicians
  • Real mentorship from BCBAs and founders.
  • W-2 employment with flexible part-time and full-time scheduling to fit your life
  • Meaningful work: every session helps a child build skills that change their life and their family’s
  • Mileage reimbursement for travel between client homes (CA Labor Code §2802)
